My Epic Trip to San Sebastian, Spain: A Personal Journey into Basque Bliss

My recent, albeit too-short, journey to San Sebastián was nothing short of epic. This luxury beach town in northwest Spain delivered an incredible mix of experiences, from the lively energy of pintxos bar crawls that tantalized my taste buds, to the serene moments spent lounging on the iconic La Concha Beach, and peaceful boat trips gliding across the azure waters of the Bay of Biscay. San Sebastián effortlessly combines relaxation with vibrant cultural immersion, making every moment truly memorable.

My adventure began at the ultra-luxurious Akelarre Hotel, a distinguished Michelin Key Hotel renowned for its exceptional quality and service. Perched majestically on Monte Igueldo, it boasts its own exquisite three-Michelin-starred restaurant, helmed by the legendary Chef Pedro Subijana. Staying in one of their Ocean View Suites, complete with a private plunge pool, was an experience that redefined luxury for me – truly one of the most dreamy and opulent hotel stays I have ever encountered. Imagine waking up to panoramic views of the glistening Bay of Biscay, taking a morning dip in your private pool, and then indulging in world-class gastronomy without even leaving the premises. Meanwhile, my friend Katherine began her part of the trip exploring the charming nearby town of Hondarribia, another gem in the Basque region, before we reunited in San Sebastián.
