Known for their enormous, flaky biscuits and inventive comfort food creations, it’s the perfect spot for a satisfying breakfast or brunch that fuels your day of Colorado adventures.

Colorado Springs is a hub of captivating attractions, offering something enjoyable for every group. Many visitors are unaware that Colorado is the proud home of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, making it the official heart of all things Team USA! (An interesting historical note you can discover at the museum: Colorado is the only state ever to be awarded the Olympics and then decline to host them.)

The newly opened United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum has quickly become my favorite museum in Colorado. It stands as a breathtakingly beautiful tribute to America’s elite athletes, seamlessly blending cutting-edge technology with priceless Olympic memorabilia. The museum’s innovative design and interactive exhibits offer a profound and inspiring journey through the history and spirit of the Olympic and Paralympic movements.

While previously it was possible to tour the Olympic Training Facilities in Colorado Springs (currently closed for visitor and athlete safety, but highly recommended upon reopening for Olympic enthusiasts), the new museum offers a more expansive and comprehensive view of Team USA’s incredible journey. It’s a truly immersive experience that honors the dedication and triumphs of athletes.

My children absolutely loved the museum, eagerly asking to return even before we had completed our first visit! We were captivated by the display of Olympic torches, thrilled by the interactive sports exhibits (the skeleton and sprint stations were particular favorites), and deeply moved by the lessons of Olympic history, especially the poignant Jesse Owens exhibit. The culminating film at the end of the museum left us with both tears and cheers—a powerful and must-see experience that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the Games.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo consistently ranks among my favorite zoos worldwide. While it may be more compact than some larger institutions, and its mountainside location ensures a brisk and scenic workout for visitors, what truly sets it apart is its profound commitment to animal welfare. Here, animals clearly thrive in spacious, natural habitats, and guests are afforded unparalleled opportunities to interact with wildlife in ways rarely possible elsewhere.

While every exhibit at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is thoughtfully designed and engaging, the opportunities to interact with giraffes, elephants, and rhinos are truly unforgettable—you can get right up close and even feed them! It’s an incredibly special experience to be so near to these happy, healthy animals, underscoring why Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is considered one of the best in the world. To ensure visitor safety, the zoo diligently enforces mask requirements (they even offer adorable sloth, crocodile, and zoo-themed masks for purchase!), provides numerous handwashing stations, and employs timed entry for families to ensure a high-quality, safe experience for all.

The Broadmoor is more than just a hotel and resort; it’s a destination in itself, making multiple appearances on this list for good reason. Beyond its world-renowned accommodations, it features several exceptional restaurants, a legendary bar, a world-class exhibit hall, and a conference center. The surrounding complex is adorned with truly gorgeous trails, perfect for a leisurely stroll with a snack or a cup of coffee while you soak in the spectacular history and architectural beauty of this iconic establishment. It offers a blend of luxury, recreation, and history unmatched in the region.

The Broadmoor Cloud Camp: An Unforgettable Alpine Escape

During our trip, we had the immense pleasure of staying at The Broadmoor Cloud Camp, a location I hadn’t experienced before. To describe Cloud Camp in a single word, it would be “breathtaking.” Perched atop Cheyenne Mountain, this all-inclusive camp offers an unparalleled escape for both adults and children, blending rustic charm with five-star luxury.

Cloud Camp provides a rich array of activities, including invigorating yoga sessions, challenging archery, engaging cooking classes, scenic hiking trails, and gentle mule rides. Your stay also includes exquisite five-star dining and a selection of beverages, ensuring every need is met in this secluded paradise. It’s a truly immersive experience designed to rejuvenate and delight every guest.

A truly special moment not to be missed occurs daily at sundown: the grand American flag is ceremoniously lowered by the camp hosts, accompanied by the National Anthem, as guests enjoy complimentary drinks and small bites. My son, a proud Boy Scout, was absolutely thrilled to be invited to participate in this meaningful flag ceremony!

We thoroughly enjoyed the private wine barrel hot tubs, which are even better now with advance reservation requirements, ensuring an exclusive experience. The dining hall’s rich collection of Native American art and exhibits, alongside captivating movie replicas (including a dress from *Jeremiah Johnson* and costumes from *Dances with Wolves*), added a unique cultural touch. Our days were filled with delightful lawn games, engaging activities, and evenings spent roasting s’mores by the crackling fire. Our rustic chic cabin provided the perfect cozy retreat, blending comfort with the rugged beauty of the Colorado wilderness.

Pueblo, a vibrant city in Southern Colorado, is truly one of the state’s hidden gems. Often overlooked by tourists heading straight for the mountains, Pueblo deserves a prime spot on any Colorado itinerary. This charming city offers a rich blend of history, culture, and unique attractions, making it an exceptional destination for families, couples, and friends alike. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised by Pueblo’s distinctive appeal and warm hospitality.

Pueblo is brimming with engaging activities and attractions perfect for any group. It’s an ideal spot to soak in the local atmosphere and enjoy the city’s charm.

Embark on a delightful, socially-distanced ride on one of the riverboats to delve into Pueblo’s rich history and learn fascinating facts about the town. Alternatively, rent a paddle boat for your own private cruise down the river, offering a fun and intimate way to experience the scenery. Both options provide unique perspectives and memorable moments on the water.

Neon Alley is a relatively new and absolutely captivating spot in Pueblo, an essential visit for anyone who appreciates Americana and the vibrant glow of neon signs! This unique urban attraction transforms a series of alleyways into an open-air museum of dazzling light, offering a fantastic experience.

These captivating alleyways are home to one of the largest collections of neon lights outside of Las Vegas. Neon Alley offers a fabulous evening experience, perfect for leisurely strolls under the mesmerizing flickering lights, capturing vibrant photographs, and appreciating the genuinely gorgeous art installations. It’s a dynamic and visually stimulating destination that’s fun for all ages.

Pueblo is widely recognized as one of Colorado’s most significant agricultural hubs, making its numerous farm stands a must-visit for any food lover. There’s no better treat than discovering fresh roasted Pueblo Chilis, incredibly sweet watermelons, ripe tomatoes, and a bounty of other amazing seasonal produce directly from the source. These farm stands offer an authentic taste of local agriculture and the region’s culinary heritage.

We made our way to Musso Farms, where we loaded up on their legendary Pueblo chilis, flavorful roasted garlic, the most incredibly sweet sugarbaby watermelons, and an abundance of freshly made salsa. I’m already planning monthly trips back just to restock these delicious treasures!

Pueblo’s culinary scene offers a wide array of excellent options for families, from casual bar and grills to diverse fine dining establishments. Thanks in part to Pueblo’s convention center, which draws considerable business travel, the city boasts a surprising depth of high-quality dining choices. You’ll find everything from quick and easy bites to memorable upscale meals, ensuring there’s something to satisfy every palate.

Twenty One Steak truly caught us by surprise—in the absolute best way possible! This upscale steakhouse, at first glance, appears similar to many other renowned steakhouses across Colorado (where you can always count on finding some of the world’s best steaks). However, the exceptional quality and incredible variety of their menu completely blew us away, setting it apart from the rest.

From the expertly crafted cocktails (I sampled a few for research purposes, and they were all phenomenal!) to the perfectly cooked steaks (do yourself a favor and order the filet trio—you’ll thank me later), we savored every single moment of our dining experience. Unlike many steakhouses, Twenty One Steak thoughtfully caters to families; our picky eaters found a wide selection of delicious, high-quality items, and we truly appreciated that children felt welcomed and well-served, not just an afterthought.

While the steaks at Twenty One Steak are absolutely unmissable (seriously, order the filet trio and prepare for a culinary revelation!), we were equally captivated by their incredible side dishes. The seasonal stuffed green chilis, brimming with Italian Sausage and Marinara, and the rich creamed corn infused with green chilis, perfectly showcased Pueblo’s in-season produce—leaving me yearning to live closer just for these flavors! The steak was cooked to absolute perfection (a critical point for my ridiculously picky palate), and the filet trio offered a wonderful opportunity to experience different preparations and toppings.

Be sure to take home any leftovers; we left feeling wonderfully full, but definitely looked forward to enjoying more later that night. My husband declared he wants to return to Pueblo soon, solely for another meal at Twenty One Steak—a testament to its unforgettable dining experience!

Solar Roast Coffee is an outstanding choice for a quick grab-and-go breakfast or a truly delicious cup of coffee in downtown Pueblo. Beyond their excellent brews, the shop stands out for its remarkable commitment to alternative energy. They proudly hold the distinction of being the first coffee roaster to utilize 100% solar energy in their roasting process, making every sip a sustainable one.

Pueblo offers a wide selection of hotels, cabins, vacation homes, and campgrounds to suit various preferences. For our trip, we chose to stay at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Pueblo, located conveniently next to the convention center. We found it to be the perfect central spot for any group exploring Pueblo.

We opted for a connecting room, which provided us with ample space for our family of four. We were particularly impressed with the hotel’s steadfast commitment to maintaining spaciousness, rigorous sanitization protocols, and ensuring we felt completely safe throughout our stay. The Courtyard’s proximity to the Riverwalk and Neon Alley, both just a short walk away, combined with its connection to the convention center, makes it an ideal and highly recommended choice for your Pueblo visit.
